Informational Night Thursday, September 14, 2006
| During this first night you will visit five sorority chapters for twenty five minutes each. Each sorority will show a slideshow that highlights activities and their members sorority experiences. The first day is your opportunity to visit each chapter and get an idea of where you feel comfortable. It is the most intensive round of parties because of its short time period and brief conversations. At the end of the last party, you will meet back with your Sigma Rho Chi and rank the five sororities. What to talk about: Because you will be meeting the sorority members for the first time one on one, conversation is simply introductory or 'small talk.' Don't be afraid to ask the women you meet in each chapter about her sorority or Greek life in general. What to wear:
This round is most casual and you will want to dress comfortably. A casual shorts or skirt outfit or pants would be most appropriate. Sigma Rho Chi Tip - Please wear comfortable shoes.

Philanthropy Night Friday, September 15, 2006
|
You will meet with your Sigma Rho Chi and review the invitations that you have received back from each chapter after the Information Night. You will visit up to 3 parties tonight. Each party will be 35 minutes in length. This round allows you to spend more time with the women in each sorority to answer questions you may have about sorority life and the service aspect of it. At this time, sorority women may also share their personal experiences of sorority life. During Philanthropy Night you will work on a service project for each chapter's charity/philanthropy. Every sorority is committed to a philanthropy or charity that is supports by raising money and working one-on-one; this is a perfect way to experience firsthand the importance of community service in Greek life. At the end of the last party, you will meet back with your Sigma Rho Chi and again rank the sororities from tonight's parties. You will also be participating in a service project for VCU Panhellenic's philanthropy. What to talk about: Philanthropy Night will be very relaxing & FUN! This is a great chance to talk to sorority women about their service projects throughout the year. You will be doing a different craft/service project in each chapter party. As you complete each, find out what the final project will be used for and where it will be donated to. What to wear: Dress for this night is very
similar to the Information Night, which is very casual. Keep in mind that
you will be completing many hands on projects. Shorts/skirts and pants are
most appropriate. Sigma Rho Chi Tip - Please wear comfortable
shoes.

Preference Night Saturday, September 16, 2006
|
Saturday afternoon you will meet with your Sigma Rho Chi to review and accept the invitation from the chapters you visit in Philanthropy Night. You will visit up to 2 chapters for 45 minutes each for Preference Night. Preference, or "Pref," parties can be the most emotional step of the Recruitment process. In each chapter party, chapter members will talk to you about the more serious aspects of sorority life. These parties will be accentuated by candlelight, songs, and an entirely different look at the special bonds within each sorority. Each sorority has a ceremony they will present, telling you what it means to be a sisters and what their sorority can offer you. What to talk about: During Preference you will get to talk privately with a chapter member. During this time, the women may share with you how they made their decisions, what their sorority means to them, and the ideals of sisterhood. Listen to what they have to say, as these women are revealing to you the strongest characteristics and foundations of their sorority. This is a time to ask any final questions, and your hostess will help you calm any doubts and fears that you may have. This is your final opportunity to take a look at the sororities you may join. Keep an open mind and reflect back on the information presented in earlier nights. Look around the room... What qualities do you share with these women? Do you feel comfortable with them? Now is the time to ask yourself where YOU think you would be most comfortable, and which sorority will be your new "HOME AWAY FROM HOME!" What to wear:
This is a dressier night of Recruitment. A nice dress or suit you might wear to church or a wedding reception would be appropriate. Sigma Rho Chi Tip - Please wear comfortable shoes.
