The Graduate Student Association (GSA) provides many valuable services to the graduate student body at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Beginning in the start of fall semester with Graduate Student Orientation for new graduate students. Then GSA organizes two Graduate Faculty & Student Meet & Greet; one in the Fall semester and one in Spring; the Graduate Research Symposium & Exhibit in the spring; by providing Travel Grants to assist graduate students to travel for academic conferences and monthly socials throughout the school year. The GSA also helps to place graduate students on campus wide committees, where they represent the voice and express the concerns of the graduate students of VCU.
The purpose of the GSA is to serve as an advocate for the issues and needs of the graduate students here at VCU. The GSA is committed to facilitating programs that enhance the academic skills, professional development and social environment of all graduate students. There is no fee to join the GSA, every graduate student is a member and eligible to participate in and contribute to the GSA and GSA activities. However, the GSA sponsored events are not limited to only graduate students – all students and faculty are welcome.
