After a week of no
practice due to spring break, the Rams came out against the University
of Virginia in their first night name of the season. Walks and errors
plauged the Rams as UVA put up 17 runs in the game, while UVA pitching
allowed just 1 Ram hit.
Stephen Blue started on
the mound for the Rams. Control was an issue, as Blue allowed 6 walks
and hit 3 batters. He allowed 7 runs - 4 earned - in 1 2/3 innings
before being relieved by Brendan Sheehy, who got the Rams out of the
inning, and pitched the 3rd. Chris Bishop came on to relieve in the
4th and started the 5th, where Luke Rhodes came on to relieve and
finished the game up, pitching a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the
6th.
The VCU bats were
almost nonexistent. Four UVA pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts and
allowed just one hit, an single by Mike Moise. |
