Posted 2.20.06
Seven schools from across Virginia and North Carolina have confirmed to
play the Rams in 13 games over the course of the 2006 Spring Season. Six
doubleheaders and one night game will comprise the Ram's inaugural club
campaign, with 10 of the games being on the road, and 3 being at home.
The season kicks off at the
beginning of Spring Break, March 11th, with a doubleheader in Elon, NC
against the Phoenix of Elon University. A member of the National Club
Baseball Association's Carolina Conference, this game will be played at
Cummings High School, the home field of the Phoenix. The Ram's opening
series will not be an easy contest - Elon is ranked 40th out of more than
130 in the country in the preseason NCBA polls.
The second weekend - and
the toughest weekend of the season for the Rams, will begin with a March
17th night game against the Virginia Cavaliers. The 7PM contest will be
the only single game, and only night game, of the year. The Cavaliers are
ranked 35th in the country. The following day, the Rams will face
16th-ranked James Madison in a 1PM Doubleheader in Harrisonburg. The Dukes
are the defending champions of the NCBA Mid-Atlantic South Conference.
On March 25th, the Rams
will travel to Greenville, NC to take on the Pirates of East Carolina
University in a 1PM Doubleheader. The game will be held at the
state-of-the-art $11 Million Clark-LeClair Stadium, home of the ECU
Varsity Baseball Team.
April 2nd marks the first
game in Richmond for the Rams, as they will split a doubleheader with the
University of Richmond Spiders. Each team will be home in one of the two
games to be played, starting at noon.
April 8th the Rams will
visit the Tribe of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, for a
doubleheader starting at noon.
The Rams will take Easter
weekend off, and come back April 22nd for the final game of the season, a
doubleheader against Radford University.
