Service Opportunities and Alternative Spring Break There are several outreach opportunities abound in Cathedral's urban setting for those interested in justice and peace issues. Examples include working with our Haiti Committee (a group that works to build solidarity with the Haitian people through a twinning relationship with a parish in Haiti), Serving food to the homeless, advocacy or assisting the elderly, CARITAS intake and overnight. Sowers of Justice Sowers of Justice is CCM's social justice group. Last year, they organized a Fair Trade Sale to support artisans and coffee farmers in third-world countries. They meet regularly throughout the semester to discuss social justice issues and put ideas into action. Please contact Patrick Headley for more information Alternative Spring Break CCM offers opportunities to travel during spring break to participate in the Alternative Spring Break program. In the past years, we have gone to the Maryknoll Missionaries' home in Oaxaca, Mexico and done service work in the community. Two years ago, a group went to Long Beach, Mississippi on the Gulf Coast to aid in the relief of Hurricane Katrina. We are tentatively planning to go to Haiti this year. ![]()
